After 8 Seasons, The Walking Dead is in a seemingly-terminal ratings slump; this despite an epic season finale that finally brought a conclusion to “All-Out War” (and introduced The Whisperers?). Still, the show seems to have no end in sight with Season 9 in pre-production and the comic book series the show is based on going strong.

Fans have floated the idea of creating a Walking Dead movie as a means of reinvigorating the franchise. It’s not a bad idea, considering an R-Rated flick would allow for levels of gore and violence not permitted on AMC. The folks at We Got This Covered cornered current Walking Dead showrunner, Scott M. Gimple, to ask, realistically, what the chances are of a Walking Dead feature film ever coming to fruition.
Per We Got This Covered:
With no end in sight, then and the network claiming that The Walking Dead could outlive us all, it’s really no surprise to hear that at some point, the property may be headed to the big screen. That’s according to showrunner Scott M. Gimple, who was asked about the chances of it happening in a recent interview and didn’t rule it out.
Granted, he didn’t outright confirm that a film will ever materialize, either, but did seem open to the idea, at least. Here’s what he said:
“Hmm, I mean, that kind of variety, that’s we’re talking about. All the differences of the ways we tell the story, yeah, what we can feature and all that. There’s a whole universe of possibilities.”
So while it’s hardly set in stone, it’s at least something within the realm of possibility. What do you guys think? Would you be down to see a Walking Dead feature film? Sound off in the Comments section!
