Space Goat Publishing is working at developing a board game based on Sam Raimi’s beloved Evil Dead 2.
That’s not much of a surprise given the resurgence in popularity that the brand is experiencing. Between Fede Alvarez’s amazing 2013 Evil Dead remake, the successful launch of Starz’s Ash vs. Evil Dead series and unending discussions of a new Evil Dead (and, or) Army of Darkness film, fronted once more by Bruce Campbell, now is the perfect time to capitalize on the Evil Dead universe. It’s red hot, and fans aren’t the only ones who realize that.
According to head honcho of Space Goat Publishing, Shon C. Bury, who took to Twitter for an interesting update just days ago, the company is currently “working on things.” Attached to that not-so-cryptic message was this picture:
Yep, an Evil Dead 2 board game. I’m not sure if this is going to appeal to gamers or collectors, or both, but as an Evil Dead fan, there’s genuine excitement brewing over here. And as unappealing as any form of game is to me at this point in life, I’d jump at the opportunity to pick this one up.
Space Goat has already released some strong Evil Dead comics, but this feels like nearly uncharted territory. It’s certainly going to help separate Space Goat from the rest of the pack.
We’re hoping to hear more of the project very soon, as I’m certain a great deal of genre fans would strangle a Deadite to get their hands on this beauty!
