There’s a reason people accuse horror movies of being loaded with frustrating clichés: In many cases, it’s true. You know what I’m talking about: People running upstairs when they should be running outside, folks dropping weapons before the danger has passed, and an unwillingness to make sure a bad guy is really dead before turning your back on him. It’s like these characters have a death wish!
One of the most enduring and ridiculous horror movie clichés is falling down. We’ve all seen it: A character (usually a woman) sprinting away from a slasher (who’s usually only walking) only to trip and fall repeatedly, allowing a fiend to easily dispatch prey. If you’ve ever wanted to just stop and yell at this silliness, you’re not alone.
