After months (actually well over a year, folks!) we have narrowed down 32 worthy ‘80s Horror Ladies – to the top four. And now the time has come to announce the BIG WINNER!
And just as a reminder – for those who have been following along from the beginning (way back in May of 2015), the pairings we saw in the preliminary rounds, the semi-final rounds and the final rounds – were winner takes all battles. The lady with the most votes moved on in the competition. Simple.
But once we got down the top four ladies – the voting changed as all four contestants faced off in one final SUDDEN DEATH round! In this last bout, the ladies were scored on a points system – which once again is:
For a FIRST PLACE vote, the contestant would receive FOUR points.
For a SECOND PLACE vote, the contestant would receive THREE points.
For a THIRD PLACE vote, the contestant would receive TWO points.
For a FOURTH PLACE vote, the contestant would receive ONE point.
So in theory, someone with lots of second place votes, could still come out on top. However…
Well, here are the TOP FOUR LADIES in the final ranking. We had a very respectable turnout for this final competition – close to 700 total votes! And just so you know, if you did NOT vote for all four women – ranking each of them (not just your favorite) – then your vote was not counted.
Coming in at FOURTH PLACE – Day of the Dead’s Lori Cardille. She rallied her troops – battle after battle – and found her way into the final spot of #4 of 32 original ladies. She faced off against Amanda Donohoe of The Lair of the White Worm, Sigourney Weaver of Aliens and Amy Steel of Friday the 13th Part 2 – and she beat them all! She gained a total of 1462 points – a combination score of all of her rankings.
In at THIRD PLACE is the star of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child – Ms. Lisa Wilcox. To reach this third place ranking, she battled (and beat) the likes of Kimberly Beck of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Drew Barrymore of Firestarter and Tawny Kitaen of Witchboard. Her total points based on her rankings by the voters in this Sudden Death round – 1524.
Taking a very respectable SECOND PLACE spot overall is Ms. Adrienne Barbeau – otherwise known as The Fog’s Stevie Wayne. Battling heavyweights like Jamie Lee Curtis of Terror Train, Elvira of Elvira: Mistress of the Dark and Heather Langenkamp of A Nightmare on Elm Street – her tenacity has brought her to this place – with a total of 1653 points from the voter’s rankings.
And that means, that the lady taking the TOP SPOT / FIRST PLACE – beating out 31 other horror ladies of the ‘80s – is Ms. Danielle Harris of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers! Her total points, based on the voter rankings – a whopping 2311!
Danielle Harris! You are THE ULTIMATE HORROR LADY OF THE ‘80S! Congrats and thanks for getting involved!
But before we go, and put this competition into the rearview mirror – let me take a moment to offer some heartfelt thanks.
Deep thanks to the many readers/voters who followed along for such an awfully long time – sharing and re-sharing and getting your friends involved – I truly appreciate you joining me on this fun journey!
And super thanks to all of the contestants (from JoBeth Williams of Poltergeist to Barbara Crampton of Re-Animator to Tawny Kitaen of Witchboard among many others) who got personally involved by sharing the battles on their social media or casting their vote!
I’ve had a remarkable time deciding on the original contestants, then placing them into competition and moving things along to this final and exciting verdict!
The voters have spoken!
Once again – Danielle Harris – CONGRATS!
And thus the series of articles and the competition known as THE ULTIMATE HORROR LADIES OF THE ‘80S – comes to an end.
