So what’s up with that Molly kid from The Cloverfield Paradox? She not in the film much, but considering the cast is fairly limited, she wouldn’t be there if she wasn’t important. A few theories are being tossed around at the moment. Some speculate that she is the Earth 1 version of Earth 2’s Jensen (played by Elizabeth Debicki). Despite the age difference, they’re both blonde and we hear an inhuman roar before each character is introduced.
Regular readers of Horror Freak News know that we’ve explored the theory that A Quiet Place (hitting theaters on April 2nd) is a secret Cloverfield movie. If this is true, then perhaps Molly is the daughter of the family in that movie, and that Michael (played by Roger Davies) will reunite them.

Another theory is that Molly somehow controls the Cloverfield monster (often dubbed “Clover”)—or all of them. Those positing this hypothesis compare her to a character in the original Cloverfield manga that accompanied the first film’s release. They also point to the fact that the actresses name could be a huge hint. Check out the video below from our friends at Hybrid Network.
Official Synopsis: Cloverfield Paradox introduced a character that, at the time, seemed rather pointless and only to be used a plot device. However, there does seem to be something odd about this character, check out Will’s theory.
The actress who plays Molly is Clover Nee—a name that instantly raises eyebrows because it doesn’t seem real. IMDB states “Clover is the daughter/niece to writing, directing duo Aaron and Adam Nee” and The Cloverfield Paradox is the only thing she’s appeared in. While Aaron and Adam Nee have IMDB pages, biographical information on each man is slim. So, it could be a coincidence.
But what about the fact that Clover Nee translates to “Clover’s Sister” in Japanese?
So what do you guys think about Molly in The Cloverfield Paradox? Is she a major Easter Egg or is the actress’s name just a strange coincidence? Let’s discuss in the Comments section!
