We’re just days away from the return of The Walking Dead. After a torturous two-and-a-half month hiatus we’ll finally learn of Rick and his survival clan’s fate. We’re also going to learn a bit more about Negan, the ultra-bad ass villain who wields a barbed wire wrapped baseball bat and makes The Governor look like a boy scout. In other words, the second half of season six is going to be unforgiving, ultraviolent and drenched in blood and brains.
Sounds like some good old wholesome family viewing. Or not.
Today we’re fortunate enough to see the first four minutes of The Walking Dead, episode 6.09, “No Way Out”, before the episode premieres on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. And, this opening sequence is loaded with serious tension (but, but – where’s the romnce?!). Could Abraham meet his demise inside the first five minutes of the episode? What about Sasha?
One look at the extended clip and you’ll realize that there’s a very real chance someone may not make it out of this confrontation.
We’ll see soon enough.
Look for The Walking Dead familiars we’ve come to love, like Rick, Glenn, Abraham, Sasha, Maggie, Carol, Carl – they’ll all be back to face a new rival unlike any they’ve known up to this point. The big question looming over everyone’s head is, when will we see Jeffrey Dean Morgan all decked out as the homicidal Negan?
Andrew Lincoln recently spoke on the second half of season six:
“The pace quickens a lot in the back eight [episodes],” he said. “It jumps up a gear, maybe two gears, and we move very, very quickly. A lot of things happen in quick succession that propel us towards a very thrilling finale.
“The scale of it is astonishing. And [director] Greg Nicotero and our brilliant crew put their bodies and everything on the line to get it shot. It was all night. It’s absolute mayhem. I think it’s going to scare some people.”
