I love the advance preview approach that so many networks are employing these days. It seems to me that if you really want viewers to take a chance on a new series, gifting them minutes of unforgettable footage is the perfect way to reel them in. Although Preacher has such a massive built-in fan base that this promotional maneuver is probably unnecessary, it can’t hurt to give it a whirl in the hopes of turning more heads of those entirely unfamiliar with the story.
Today, AMC quite clearly intends to turn those heads; the first five minutes of the frequently discussed Preacher series is officially available to stream right now. We’ll save you a few minutes and attach that vid below!
Be sure to tune into AMC on May 22nd at 10/9 central to see the Preacher pilot episode.
Preacher films at Albuquerque Studios in New Mexico, and stars Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) as Jesse Custer, Joseph Gilgun (Harry Brown, Lockout) as Cassidy, Ruth Negga (12 Years a Slave, World War Z) as Tulip, Lucy Griffiths (Uncanny, Winter’s Tale) as Emily, W. Earl Brown (Scream, Being John Malkovich) as Sherriff Root, Anatol Yusef (Boardwalk Empire, The Gathering) as DeBlanc, Tom Brooke (Pirate Radio, Venus) as Fiore, Derek Wilson (Wet Behind the Ears) as Donnie Schenck, and Ian Colletti (Baby Momma) as Eugene/Arseface.
Synopsis: Based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s popular ‘90’s comic book franchise of the same name, “Preacher” is a supernatural, twisted, and darkly comedic drama that follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power. Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip, and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy come together; and when they do, they are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell, and everywhere in between.
