Those who have seen it almost universally agree that Dark City, written and directed by Alex Proyas, is one of the best genre mash-ups of the 1990s. Somehow, the film was missed while most horror and sci-fi fans were absorbed in The Matrix franchise, though Dark City is something entirely unique.
