It’s hard to get excited about the upcoming Cloverfield movie when we know so little about it, and now it appears we’ll be waiting even longer to learn the film’s mysterious secrets. The 3rd installment in the loosely connected franchise, tentatively titled God Particle (directed by Julius Onah), was scheduled for release next month (2/24), but today comes word that the film has been pushed back until April 20th (let the stoner jokes commence!).

God Particle lead actor David Oyelowo recently sat down with the good folks at The Wrap to discuss what it’s like working on a film with such a rich and complicated backstory:
“Every single day we were on that set we were agog with the inventiveness and innovation, between the technology, the story and the audacity of what we were trying to accomplish. It’s an incredibly exciting and innovative piece of storytelling. It’s incredibly surprising.”
Since we still don’t officially know the name of the film, we sure as hell don’t have a trailer. Of course, we’ll be keeping our ears to the ground in order to bring you additional God Particle news as details emerge. Stay tuned! In the meantime, check out the trailers and synopses for Cloverfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane below.
In Cloverfield (released in 2008): As a group of New Yorkers (Michael Stahl-David, Mike Vogel, Odette Yustman) enjoy a going-away party, little do they know that they will soon face the most terrifying night of their lives. A creature the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city, leaving death and destruction in its wake. Using a handheld video camera, the friends record their struggle to survive as New York crumbles around them.
In 10 Cloverfield Lane (released earlier this year): After surviving a car accident, Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) wakes up to find herself in an underground bunker with two men. Howard (John Goodman) tells her that a massive chemical attack has rendered the air unbreathable, and their only hope of survival is to remain inside. Despite the comforts of home, Howard’s controlling and menacing nature makes Michelle want to escape. After taking matters into her own hands, the young woman finally discovers the truth about the outside world.
