When it comes to film I have a few serious pet peeves. One of them is the constant changes to a film’s title. It bugs the hell out of me to see a movie promoted under one title for months, only to receive a title change as a release edges closer, only to receive another title change as the film makes its way to the public.
Uncaged hasn’t undergone three title changes, yet (to my knowledge), but it is now playing the fool-you game by shifting from Uncaged, a title in which has been promoted for a solid month, to The Beast Within, a generic title already used by multiple films inside the last decade alone.
Why is it necessary to confuse the hell out of viewers, time and again?
I’ve got the Uncaged screener queued up for coverage, and now, to be entirely honest, I’ve lost a little interest in the picture just based on the fact that someone can’t decide what in the hell they want to call the film. It is grating on the nerves, and I’m certain there are more than a single individual disturbed by these constant adjustments.
You’ve got a title you like, that you’ve already been promoting? Do the masses a favor and STICK WITH THE DAMNED TITLE! By changing the name of the film, all you’re doing is confusing fans. You can bet that a good number of people who were interested in seeing Uncaged have absolutely no idea that the film is now known as The Beast Within, and will thus pass on the film.
Congratulations on trimming your potential audience and confusing those of us whose duty it is to follow up and report on these pictures.
Now that my rant is over (I do apologize, but this is a major issue for me, and has been for years) I’ll get right to it: The Beast Within is scheduled to hit VOD platforms on February 29th. The film will also hit discs in the UK on February 14th… let’s just hope fans aren’t on the lookout for Uncaged, because they won’t find that film.
The movie is directed by Daniel Robbins and stars Gene Jones, Ben Getz, Kyle Kirkpatrick
Take a look at the trailer, and if you can remember what the hell title this film is being released under, look into it.
