I’m a huge fan of James Franco, but I can objectively admit that the actor’s forays into horror have been mediocre. He started in both The Institute and The Vault, but stumbled in each case, delivering performances below his average. Still, I’m hoping he’ll make that successful crossover eventually, perhaps even in his next film: Future World.
A mix of Mad Max style mayhem and post-apocalyptic Terminator tropes (with a splash of Turbo Kid’s irreverence), The Future also features Milla Jovovich, Lucy Liu, Suki Waterhouse, and Snoop Dogg. Have a look at the trailer below; it looks like a fabulous disaster that I wouldn’t miss for the world! Let me know what you guys think in the Comments section!
Official Synopsis: In a post-apocalyptic world, where water and gasoline have long since dried-up, a prince from the oasis (one of the last known safe-havens) must venture out to find medicine for the ailing queen (Lucy Liu), but along the way he gets mixed up with the warlord (James Franco) and his robot Ash (Suki Waterhouse), which leads to a daring journey through the desolate wastelands.
Look for Future World in theaters and iTunes beginning May 25th. Does anyone else hope they work the song Future World by Helloween into the soundtrack? It would fit the mood perfectly!
