It’s good breeding gone bad!
Everyone is chomping at the bit for The Strangers: Prey at Night, which arrives in theaters tomorrow, but it’s not the only horror movie coming out this weekend you should be excited about. If black comedy and teen angst is more your thing, you should definitely check out Thoroughbreds, a film that mixes the detached wit of I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore and the millennial madness of Tragedy Girls.
Give the trailer a look-see below. Thoroughbreds is written and directed by Cory Finley and stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Olivia Cooke, and Anton Yelchin (making this the late actor’s final film).
Official Synopsis: Childhood friends Lily and Amanda reconnect in suburban Connecticut after years of growing apart. Lily has turned into a polished, upper-class teenager, with a fancy boarding school on her transcript and a coveted internship on her resume; Amanda has developed a sharp wit and her own particular attitude, but all in the process of becoming a social outcast. Though they initially seem completely at odds, the pair bond over Lily’s contempt for her oppressive stepfather, Mark, and as their friendship grows, they begin to bring out one another’s most destructive tendencies. Their ambitions lead them to hire a local hustler, Tim, and take matters into their own hands to set their lives straight.
Thoroughbreds is written and directed by Cory Finley; in addition to Yelchin, the film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Olivia Cooke, and Paul Sparks. Look for it in theaters beginning March 9th, 2018.
