It sounds like Predator meets One Flew Over the Coocoo’s Next in Shane Blacks reboot, The Predator, hitting theaters this summer. Thomas Jane, a member of the film’s large ensemble, recently dished with the Shadow Nation podcast, revealing details that are—well, they’re nuts—literally. I’ve got to admit, part of my suspects Jane is pulling our legs, but here’s what he said.
Jane told the podcast’s hosts that he and other members of the ensemble “play these veterans from like Afghanistan, Iraq war or whatever. But we’re all f*cking crazy so we go to the VA hospital to get our meds. We’re all like shellshocked, PTSD soldiers. We’re at the VA hospital and we’re in group therapy and of course, somebody flips out… this is backstory, I don’t think we really see this… somebody flips out and we all get arrested and get thrown onto the bus to go down to the hospital and they throw this other guy on the bus, too. And he’s a guy they’ve actually marked to kill him because he’s seen a UFO, he’s seen the Predator ships come down, so they lock him up and throw him in with us lunatics. They’re going to take that bus, drive it down to a ditch and shoot us all just to get rid of this one guy. But, of course, we take the bus over and we’re all like ‘F*ck that man, let’s go kill these f*cking Predators ourselves’ and we’re just crazy enough to believe that this guy really did see a UFO and there’s these aliens out there.”
Here’s what we know about The Predator so far:

20th Century Fox CEO Stacy Snider recently sat down for an in-depth interview with Variety.
“We’ve got a Predator film coming out that is unexpected and utterly fresh. I just imagined that it would take 500 hours to read the script — that it would be interior jungle, exterior more jungle and then fighting happens, but Emma [Watts] went out and recruited Shane Black. From the first page, it didn’t read like a Predator film. It’s set in suburbia. There’s a little boy and his dad at the center of the action.”
The Predator’s sizable ensemble cast includes Thomas Jane, Jake Busey, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, and Augusto Aguilera (and not Arnold Schwarzenegger *wink*wink*).
In the original Predator (Official Synopsis): Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a soldier of fortune, is hired by the U.S. government to secretly rescue a group of politicians trapped in Guatemala. But when Dutch and his team, which includes weapons expert Blain (Jesse Ventura) and CIA agent George (Carl Weathers), land in Central America, something is gravely wrong. After finding a string of dead bodies, the crew discovers they are being hunted by a brutal creature with superhuman strength and the ability to disappear into its surroundings.
Ironically, director Shane Black had a bit-part in Predator, alongside Schwarzenegger. He played Hawkins who was, unfortunately, the aggressive alien’s first kill.
