We’re just going to be completely honest and address two different things: First, we’ve been sleeping on Red Billabong and that’s a mistake that we’re going to work on. And second, a lot of us despise visual effects. The fact is, it’s the bad visual effects that makes us grumpy. Red Billabong prides itself in its ability to showcase impressive digital effects without turning our stomachs, and if the brand new trailer is any indicator, we’re in for the rare accomplishment of impressive digital special effects.
You can check out the aforementioned trailer below. This one just hit the web courtesy of the folks over at Movieweb. Thanks for sharing, guys!
“I can’t recall a fully realized computer generated character as a ‘lead’ in an Australian film before. I don’t think it’s been attempted. Our VFX team will be working furiously all the way up to the cinema release. We also used so many practical effects, daring stunts and huge sets. There’s so much in the film that isn’t in the new trailer – still so much to reveal when you’re watching it!” the filmmaker said in a recent statement to Movieweb.
The film stars Daniel Ewing, Sophie Don, Jessica Green, Ben Chisholm, John Reynolds, Emily Joy, James Straiton, Felix Williamson, and Gregory J. Fryer, opens in Australia this summer. Unfortunately, we’ve got zero word on a Stateside or international release. Yeah, we know: that’s a bummer! The moment we hear word of a worldwide arrival we’ll bring you up to speed. In the meantime, check out the trailer!
