For the folks that hold H.P. Lovecraft’s writing as sacred, the news that a new trilogy of films coming from Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah of SpectreVision must be rather exciting.
The Nicolas Cage vehicle THE COLOR OUT OF SPACE that is due for release next year is apparently intended to be the first film in a proposed trilogy of adaptations that the production company wants to make.
Lovecraft stories are no stranger to adaptations, from Re-Animator and Dagon to the current one directed by Richard Stanley who is coming out of a 20+ year retirement to helm the picture. The folks at SpectreVision are trying to make some adaptations that are more loyal to the source material.
When talking about THE COLOR OUT OF SPACE, producer Daniel Noah said, “We had been hellbent on finding the Lovecraft adaptation that truly captured cosmic dread without the camp” and with Stanely’s script, “This is it. We found out.”
