In a recent interview, Rick Grimes actor Andrew Lincoln warned fans to expect some major character deaths in Season 8.
Uh-oh. If you thought we were done with major characters dying off on The Walking Dead after the brutal last season, you thought wrong. It seems we will be losing some favorite faces since again in season 8, which kicks off Oct. 22 on AMC.
That’s according to series star Andrew Lincoln, who dropped the bombshell at a SiriusXM The Walking Dead Town Hall taping Saturday afternoon (hosted by yours truly and airing on Entertainment Weekly Radio, channel 105, at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 19). “There’s some big deaths this season, just to warn everybody,” said Lincoln.
So, who’s about to sing his/her swan song? While the comic book series the show is based on is years ahead of the action, the series has already deviated greatly from the source material, so future character death in that universe won’t necessarily coincide with what we see on AMC. Still, Walking Dead aficionados and scholars are hard at work theorizing who we should prepare to bid a final farewell.

Official Synopsis: Last season, Rick Grimes [Andrew Lincoln] and his group of survivors were confronted with their deadliest challenge yet. With the comfort of Alexandria, they let their guard down, only to be reminded how brutal the world they live in can be.
Feeling powerless under Negan’s [Jeffery Dean Morgan] rules and demands, Rick advocated the group play along. But seeing that Negan couldn’t be reasoned with, Rick began rallying together with other communities affected by the Saviors. And with the support of the Hilltop and Kingdom, they finally have enough firepower to contest the Saviors.
This season, Rick brings “All Out War” to Negan and his forces. The Saviors are larger, better-equipped, and ruthless — but Rick and the unified communities are fighting for the promise of a brighter future. The battle lines are drawn as they launch into a kinetic, action-packed offensive.
Up until now, survival has been the focus of Rick and our group, but it’s not enough. They have to fight to take back their freedom so that they can live. So that they can rebuild. As with any battle, there will be losses. Casualties. But with Rick leading the Alexandrian forces, Maggie [Lauren Cohan] leading the Hilltop, and King Ezekiel [Khary Payton] leading the Kingdom — Negan and the Saviors’ grip on this world may finally be coming to an end.
