One of the best yet most underrated horror movies of 2018 so far is The Lodgers; it didn’t get a nationwide theatrical release but did get limited screenings before arriving on VOD last month. The film is a potent mix of Gothic themes and supernatural scares, all set in a crumbling mansion with both living and otherworldly inhabitants.
One of the coolest aspects of The Lodger is the way it plays with your expectations; you’ll be wondering if you’re watching something along the lines of The Others or a more traditional Gothic along the lines of Jayne Eyre. Luckily, the folks at Let Me Explain have prepared an awesome overview of the film; best of all, you can absorb this recap in just 3 minutes.
