Rumors of a reboot of 1994’s The Crow have been swirling for years; while the project seemed doomed following Relativity Media’s bankruptcy, the film got new life when Sony scooped up the property in 2017. We’d heard that Corin Hardy is directing Jason Momoa cast as Eric Draven/The Crow (a role made famous by Brandon Lee).
Sony announced a target release date today, meaning the project is moving forward in earnest.
Per Tracking Board:
Last Sept., Sony Pictures signed on to release THE CROW REBORN, an update of the 1994 movie The Crow based on James O’Barr’s comic book series starring the late Brandon Lee. Jason Momoa will star in the title role for the new film that’s now had its title shortened to simply “The Crow” with Sony dating the film for Oct. 11, 2019.
This would put the film in the prime horror/thriller month of Halloween that has helped previous releases like The Grudge, but right now, that would have it going up against Warner Bros’ The Goldfinch, MGM’s new The Addams Family movie and Paramount’s Are You Afraid of the Dark?
We’ll keep you posted as details emerge; stay tuned!
