CinemaCon has been slowly turning out some valuable horror info. Some of the latest news to cause waves is the official Sony announcement that Insidious Chapter 4 will no doubt be haunting theater goers in the future.
If Leigh Whannell is still focused on an idea he talked about last year, we’ll most likely see the story take place after the events of Insidious Chapter 3, but prior to Insidious and Insidious Chapter 2.
“I haven’t really thought about it yet. But for the purposes of this interview, I’ll say that I’d like to explore the time between this film and the first film,” Whannell told We Got This Covered last year. “That whole area there where Elise has rediscovered her gift, I think you could have a lot of adventures before she arrives. So I think there is a lot of room there. We’ve kind of established Lin [Shaye] in this particular film as kind of this superhero, so that would be kind of interesting to explore in the other films.”
Given the success of all three franchise flicks, this doesn’t come as a surprise, but it is good news.
Insidious earned $97 million worldwide, Chapter 2 took away $161 million worldwide and the third franchise flick picked up $112 million in worldwide ticket sales.
Seems a no-brainer that we’d see another addition to the Insidious lineup!
