We first reported on news of a potential The Conjuring spin-off that would feature The Nun (aka Valak) from Part 2 on February 3rd. To recap:
Corin Hardy is set to direct New Line’s “The Nun,” a spinoff to the film “The Conjuring,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap. Written by Gary Dauberman and James Wan, “The Nun” will be produced by Wan and Peter Safran. Hardy’s most recent credit includes “The Hallow,” which he directed and wrote. He was signed on to direct Relativity’s “The Crow” remake, but parted ways with the project last March.
The Conjuring franchise has a knack for introducing side-characters that steal the show. Before The Nun, there was Annabelle: The diminutive devil doll so shocked and thrilled Horror Freaks, she’s now the star of her own franchise. Annabelle 2 will hit US Theaters later this year on August 11th. Now, we’ve got a solid release date for The Nun as well: New Line Cinema has set a Friday, July 13th, 2018 target.
We’ll bring you more news about The Nun as details emerge. Stay tuned!
