As reported right before Christmas Rob Zombie was having issues with the MPAA and his new film 31 getting given the dreaded NC-17 rating. An NC-17 basically means that the big multiplexes aren’t going to touch your movie and severely limits how many screens will be showing your film. Despite the fact that Rob Zombie went to crowd funding to avoid having to compromise his “vision” he has been fighting to get an R and Bloody Disgusting reports that he finally got there.
Despite this rating if his previous movies are anything to go by we’re still in for some seriously twisted exploitation horror like we saw with House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects. Also worth noting is that when it comes to home video there is nothing stopping Zombie from releasing an unrated version. Those NC-17 ratings could even be used to promote a gorier, sicker, more twisted “director’s cut” so really this is a win-win for one of horror’s more polarizing figures.
Are you still excited for 31? Are you looking forward to seeing this on the big screen or are you going to wait for an unrated cut with all the sickest stuff put in? Tell us in the comments!
