Despite the fact that Alien: Covenant disappointed as many moviegoers as it entertained, and despite the fact that the impending sale of 21st Century Fox to Disney throws the future of the franchise into question, Ridley Scott insists the show will go one. Whether fans will still be interested in what eventually materializes remains to be seen.

While recent reports that Scott is more interested in exploring A.I. than Xenomorphs in future Alien installments have fans perplexed, we can at least rest assure that all of the most compelling characters from Covenant will return. In addition to the android David (played by Michael Fassbender), Daniels (Katherine Waterson) and Tennessee (Danny McBride) will also be back for another round of face-huggers, chest-burters, and a variety of ‘morphs.
Check out an excerpt from a recent interview Scott gave with The Toronto Sun below:
[On Daniels and Tennessee Returning in the next Alien movie:]
“I think they have to. There’s no reason why Alien should now not be on the same level for fans as Star Trek and Star Wars. So I think the next step as to where we go is, do we sustain the Alien (series) with the evolution of the beast or do we reinvent something else? I think you need to have an evolution on this famous beast because he’s the best monster ever, really.”
[On his desire to make more Alien movies:]
I would like to; they’re crazy if they don’t. David is a fantastic villain. I love what (Michael Fassbender) did in Covenant. But it’s f—ing hard, dude. We lifted Alien out of a ditch and made Prometheus.
Though it didn’t make any Top Horror Movies of 2017 lists, Alien: Covenant is still a compelling watch. If you didn’t see it in theaters, check out the trailer and synopsis below.
Official Synopsis: Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members (Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup) of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival.
