Terrifying things often have inauspicious beginnings; case in point: The first “test puppet” for the Queen from James Cameron’s Aliens, arguably the most horrifying manifestation of a xenomorph in the entire franchise, was made out of garbage bags, foam core, and ski poles! The good folks at Stan Winston School were good enough to share the rare footage below, which shows Cameron and crew conducting motion tests with the “proof-of-concept” design. Have a look, and just try not to smile!
Official Synopsis: In this Stan Winston Studio ALIENS test footage, James Cameron directs SWS puppeteers as they manipulate a rough “proof of concept” Alien Queen made out of garbage bags, foam core, and ski poles.

Also, Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5, a sequel that would have given Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) a conclusion her characters truly deserves, has been permanently shelved as Ridley Scott has reclaimed control over the franchise he launched in 1979.
Alien: Covent, Scott’s Alien-prequel/Prometheus-sequel, invaded US Theaters on May 19th. It’s still playing in most areas, so if you haven’t experienced it yet for yourself, check out the trailer and synopsis below.
