Shane Black’s Predator reboot, The Predator, began filming weeks ago, and we’re still getting updates on new actors joining what is already a fantastic (and sizable) ensemble. THR got the exclusive news that Edward James Olmos is now officially part of the crew. The Los Angeles native of Mexican descent had a reoccurring role on Dexter and will be reprising the role of Gaff in Blade Runner 2049 later this year.

The actor, who did a recent stint on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, is coming off of shooting Blade Runner 2049 in which he reprises his character from the classic 1982 Ridley Scott movie. And is due to appear in the pilot for Mayans MC, FX’s hoped for Sons of Anarchy spin-off series.
Olmos’ role in The Predator is unknown, but the actor joins Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Augusto Aguilera, Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane, and Jake Busey. The Predator is scheduled for release on February 9th, 2018.

In the original Predator (Official Synopsis): Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a soldier of fortune, is hired by the U.S. government to secretly rescue a group of politicians trapped in Guatemala. But when Dutch and his team, which includes weapons expert Blain (Jesse Ventura) and CIA agent George (Carl Weathers), land in Central America, something is gravely wrong. After finding a string of dead bodies, the crew discovers they are being hunted by a brutal creature with superhuman strength and the ability to disappear into its surroundings.
Ironically, director Shane Black had a bit-part in Predator, alongside Schwarzenegger. He played Hawkins who was, unfortunately, the aggressive alien’s first kill.
