Back on October 12th, we brought you the latest casting news from Shane Black’s Predator reboot, The Predator. Hopes that Benicio Del Toro would star in the film were dashed when it was announced that Boyd Holbrook would be playing lead instead. The latest exclusive news from THR regards Boyd’s female counterpart:
Olivia Munn is in negotiations to join Boyd Holbrook in The Predator, Twentieth Century Fox‘s reboot of the alien action-movie series. Holbrook is starring in the movie, which was co-written by Black and Fred Dekker.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but this much is known: The story plunks the alien hunter — whom audiences have seen fight in jungles, concrete jungles, frozen wastelands and alien planets — in the harsh environment of … suburbia.
Horror Freaks may remember Munn as Jen in 2014’s Deliver Us From Evil; most recently, she played Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse.
In the original Predator: Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a soldier of fortune, is hired by the U.S. government to secretly rescue a group of politicians trapped in Guatemala. But when Dutch and his team, which includes weapons expert Blain (Jesse Ventura) and CIA agent George (Carl Weathers), land in Central America, something is gravely wrong. After finding a string of dead bodies, the crew discovers they are being hunted by a brutal creature with superhuman strength and the ability to disappear into its surroundings.
Ironically, director Shane Black had a bit-part in Predator, alongside Schwarzenegger. He played Hawkins who was, unfortunately, the aggressive alien’s first kill.
