This causes her to have a wild night at a nightclub with Abby and some guy they pick up. Danni is drugged and has sex with them both. Abby makes sure to take lots of pictures of everything that happens. The next day. Danni wakes up in bed with Abby. She is trying to piece together what happened and leaves for work. Abby isn’t very happy that she just leaves. She tries her best to get on her good side and even gives Danni her house keys for whenever she needs anything. She tries to “help” her out by getting to her cheating stepdad, as she becomes a patient of his in order to seduce and ultimately kill him. After his death Danni goes to Abby’s house, in hopes of getting some moral support. But, when she feels Abby is coming on to her and acting weird she backs off and leaves again. Abby gets pissed off and is determined to teach her a lesson for what she sees as betrayal by sending out the hot pics of the aforementioned wild night, as well as trying to make her look like she is the psycho. It doesn’t take long for Dani to see that Abby is insane. But, Abby is determined to stop anyone one who is in her way or against her, including Danni.
Nurse 3D is a real fun and sexy movie that manages to rise well above its tired story. The wholeFatal Attraction thing has been done to death, and there is a decent part of this movie where this shows. These are the film’s weak spots and have been played out many times in other movies before. Moments that include, for example, the crazy person is revealed to have had another identity and someone pops up and recognizes her for that. But, thankfully the movie such a good time that it manage to overlook over this scenario. Once you can get past this issue you’ll simply love this film.
To its greatest advantage is Paz de la Huerta playing the lead villainess, Abby. She exudes sex every time she is onscreen. She has an amazing body that is quite frankly, to die for. Her curves will drive you as insane as her character is. That being said, I do think she tries too hard at times and some of her acting comes off a little bit forced. When she is “on” and really controlling a scene however, she simply smolders and dominates it. Also quite good is the beautiful Katrina Bowden as the object of Abby’s obsession, Danni. She too has a great body and is, thankfully, seen nude in the film. Her character is likable and easy to get behind. That being said, Corbin Bleu as her boyfriend Steve, is a rather bland and boring character. I get that he is supposed to be a nice guy, but I just didn’t care much for him. One really fun supporting character, though, is the HR lady with the habit of giving out smiley-face stickers, Rachel Adams (Melanie Scrofano). I really enjoyed her character’s bubbly personality, and she is a total babe to boot.
The movie succeeds quite well at being an erotic horror film. While as I have said previously; the obsessed lover deal is a tired one, having it be a girl going after another girl makes it inherently sexier. De la Huerta is frequently nude, including full frontal female nudity, even if in some scenes it could be argued that it wasn’t necessary for her to be like that; you won’t care or be complaining and simply grateful that she is. She manages to deliver some great lines that are really sexy, nasty, and/ or funny at times. I can see these lines becoming classics in their own right.
Another good aspect of the story that sets it apart from other films of this ilk is that she narrates the story, and it is told from her perspective. It is great getting into her head and understanding why she does what she does. It really makes her the centerpiece and true driving force of the film, and it gets you to cheer for her, well, at least at first, as we go about following her while she kills cheating, scumbag men. It is during this part of the movie that there is a sort of Ms. 45 feminist feel to it. We do, of course, stop cheering for her once we realize just how truly insane she is. Here is this character that I cheered for, then was scared of, and yet, was always totally in love. It’s kind of crazy, right? Good, cause that’s exactly how this movie is.
Another great aspect that manages to help Nurse 3D is the gore. It’s pretty bloody with impalings, slashings, and amputations, but it’s the killer and insane climax that really gives it that extra kick in the ass with its’ a nice body count and tons of spraying blood. It all begins with a wild cat fight between our two gorgeous leads and just gets wilder and wilder, from there. I feel that these last 15 minutes or so really make this movie a winner.
As for the 3D aspect of the movie, well that really helps the sex, nudity, and gore play out in a very cool manner, and it’s hard to say no to Bowden and de la Huerta’s nude, naughty bits jumping right off the screen. Then there is the splattering blood or objects being thrown or put in front of the camera. Technically, you don’t need to see this movie in 3D, but for once this adds to the fun of it, tenfold. It’s the type of movie that benefits from this gimmick, not like the random big budget Hollywood movie where it adds nothing to it.
In all, Nurse 3D is a really good time that introduces the horror world to what is one of the sexiest female villainess in horror movies in the form of Abby Russell. In fact, she may very well be the sexiest one since the days of Ingrid Pitt playing a lesbian vampire in Hammer’s classic The Vampire Lovers. I would love to see this character in a series of sequels, so long as we get more naked, lesbian de la Huerta that is! This is a really insane, sexy, erotically charged, sometimes funny, bloody good time. I say definitely check this one out, because I know you will enjoy the hell out of it, much like I did.
