Those of us who have loved Nine Inch Nails since day one are no doubt also familiar with industrial rock pioneers like Ministry, KMFDM, Throbbing Gristle, and Skinny Puppy. While those bands never reached the stratum of stardom Trent Reznor achieved, they’re no less important to those with an above average love of the subgenre.
Which makes the reveal of Nine Inch Nail’s tour mate for the Cold and Black and Infinite Tour especially exciting; joining them for over 2 dozen dates internationally will be Goth icons The Jesus and Mary Chain. The band with deep industrial roots exploded at the intersection of synth-pop like Depeche Mode and the psychedelic Manchester sound exemplified by bands like The Stone Roses. Fueled by drugs and internal conflict, The Jesus and Mary Chain burned bright and hot before retreating into the annals of musical history.
Per Rolling Stone:
The industrial/alternative-rock duo [Nine Inch Nails] – Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross – will promote the project with their “Cold and Black and Infinite” North American tour. The trek, featuring the Jesus and Mary Chain as openers, will launch September 13th in Phoenix, Arizona and conclude with a four-night stint at L.A.’s Palladium on December 7th, 8th, 11th, and 12th.
Though they’ve been actively recording since they reunited at Coachella in 2007, this may be The Jesus and Mary Chain’s biggest public outing since their heyday. To see when and where bands will be throughout the fall and beyond, check out the tour’s official Facebook Page, HERE.
