One of Candyman director Bernard Rose’s first entertainment industry gigs was working as a production assistant on The Dark Crystal with Jim Henson; here’s what he said about the experience in a recent interview with Trailers from Hell (video below):
“[Henson had] done The Muppet Show, which was a huge hit, he’d done The Muppet Movie, which was a huge hit, he promised them another Muppet movie, I think The [Great] Muppet Caper, and then he was like, ‘If I do all this work, you’ll let me make Dark Crystal for as much money as I want to spend.’ And he did. And he really went to extremes.”

Decades after its release, The Dark Crystal remains a beautiful anomaly, a film that appeals as much to adults as it does to children; a film that will please fans of Walt Disney and Clive Barker in equal measure. Now, we’re getting word that Netflix is producing The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, a prequel to the original Dark Crystal!

Official Synopsis: Jen (Stephen Garlick), raised by the noble race called the Mystics, has been told that he is the last survivor of his own race, the Gelflings. Jen believes that he can repair the dark crystal and bring peace back to the world, if he can only find the remaining shard.
