Mary Harron’s American Psycho isn’t just an amazing film, it’s already recognized as a certified modern day classic. The success comes in part due to Christian Bale’s stunning performance (as well as Bret Easton Ellis’s mind blowing story), which the great Huey Lewis, who himself earned quite the nod in the original film, had a little fun with for the folks over at Funny or Die just a few years ago.
While the video has floating around the web for a couple years, it’s been getting a lot of attention recently (again) as a number of outlets have pulled this one from the forgotten pile to give fans a reminder of how awesome it truly is.
Lewis does a great job parodying Bale, and he gets some priceless help from the one and only “Weird” Al Yankovic, who plays the unfortunate victim.
And since we’re talking about Huey Lewis, there’s no doubt you know exactly what scene you’re about to see. This is the highly memorable axe scene that offered Bale a chance to really slay a discombobulating monologue that has us confused, chilled and anxious. While Lewis isn’t quite as intense as Bale, his work is immensely enjoyable. There’s no doubt the man had a damn fine time hamming it up for this two minute vid, and we love him for it!
Watch it below, if nothing else, it’ll put a smile on your face and lighten the mood on a gloomy Monday morning!
