Puppet Master: The Little Reich, the 12th installment of the enduring cult franchise, begins filming in the Dallas area next week. If you’re expecting a disposable, color-by-numbers fantasy slasher, it may interest you to know that the script is penned by S. Craig Zahler who wrote and directed Bone Tomahawk in 2015, widely considered one of the year’s best. In fact, horror icon Robert Englund recently told TMZ that Bone Tomahawk scared the shit out of him, which absolutely bodes well for The Littlest Reich.
The film is being directed by Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund; producers have revealed 3 cast members so far.
Udo Kier will play Toulon. The German actor is known for turns in Blade, Melancholia, and Shadow of the Vampire.
Relative unknown Serafin Falcon has an unknown role. She’s appeared in Transporter 2 and Sharkansas Women’s Prison Massacre.
Thomas Lennon also has an unknown role. He’s primarily known as a voice actor, lending his talents to the likes of American Dad and Bob’s Burgers; he also played Principal Novak in Netflix’s recent suburban cannibal horror series The Santa Clarita Diet.
Official Synopsis: “Puppet Master: The Little Reich” centers on a recently divorced young man discovers a mint condition Blade doll in his deceased brother’s closet and plans to sell the toy at a convention in Texas celebrating the 30th anniversary of the infamous Toulon Murders. All hell breaks loose at during the auction when a strange force animates all of the various puppets throughout the convention as they go on a bloody killing spree.
The franchise centers on a crew of animated dolls named Blade, Jester, Pinhead, Tunneler, Leech Woman, Shredder Khan, and Gengie.
