Regular readers of Horror Freak News know that we’re big fans of the video essays and Top 10 Lists produced by Looper, and their latest offering (released today!) is right up our ally. It features Melissa McBride who plays Carol on The Walking Dead, a character who has become the heart & soul of the entire franchise.
While most genre fans recognized McBride as “The Woman with Kids at Home” in Frank Darabont’s The Mist (a role that landed her the role of Carol in TWD) she’d been in quite a few television shows and made-for-TV films before her big break. The only thing is, fans probably don’t recognize her without her trademark sheared locks; McBride looks completely different with long, curly hair.
See her in clips from Matlock, Walker Texas Ranger, In the Heat of the Night, American Gothic, and even Dawson’s Creek in the video below: Why Carol From The Walking Dead Looks So Familiar.
Official Synopsis: Every character from The Walking Dead has a fan following, and Carol is no exception. Watching her arc take her from domestic abuse and zombie apocalypse survivor to gun-toting badass has been an incredible journey, driven by some powerful performances from Melissa McBride. She’s proven she can play everything from battered wife to trembling survivor to someone capable of doing whatever it takes. And we mean whatever. Ouch. There’s no doubt McBride has become part of the heart and soul of the show. But, you’ve seen her before, too—even if she looked so different that you might not have actually realized it…
