More news for the fans of the film that very well may get Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar nomination when those come around, JOKER.
The Todd Phillips directed comic book film is now officially the highest grossing comic book movie of all time. It’s reported that the film will reach a global total of $957 million by the end of the day for November 8. Put that up against a reported budget of $62.5 million, and you’ve got the most profitable comic book film of all time.
JOKER surpasses other comic book films like The Mask, which made $351 million on a $23 million budget in 1994. Venom which made on $854 million on a $90 million budget, Batman which scored $411 million on a $35 million budget, and Deadpool which broke the 4th wall all the way to $783 million on a $58 million budget.
This makes things a little weird though. Many people think that the film is best on its own, while others, Phoenix included, have been lobbying pretty hard for a sequel and with a tremendous windfall like this, there is nothing stopping the studio from doing it.
What are your thoughts? Should there be a second JOKER film? What do you think of this amazing feat at the box office? Let us know in the comments below!
