Twisted Twin fans rejoiced when it was announced last February that Canadian filmmaking duo Jen and Sylvia Soska were set to direct a remake of David Cronenberg’s body-horror masterpiece Rabid (originally released in 1977). Earlier this week, the sisters revealed that in addition to directing, they actually wrote the screenplay themselves.
At the launch of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios, Jen blurted out: “We wrote it.” Sylvia was surprised at her sister’s announcement and added: ““Did you see my face? I don’t think we’re allowed to say that!”
“We’re very excited about Rabid,” continued Sylvia. “We were supposed to shoot this summer, but we are also making the TV show in conjunction. I think people are going to be really happy with the ‘body horror’ they’ll be seeing from us again.”
In the original Rabid: Surgery leaves a Montreal motorcyclist (Marilyn Chambers) with a bloodsucking appendage in her armpit.
While we wait for Rabid, Horror Freaks can enjoy the Soskas when Season 2 of Hellevator premieres on GSN on Friday October 7th. Of their horror-themed gameshow, Jen gushes: “If people didn’t think I was an insufferable bitch (in season one) and I believe they did, then I really take the title in season two. I’m like a mean Ben Stein.”
