With the scramble for content growing bigger and bigger on a daily basis because of the rise of all of the streaming services, it would appear that Disney is going to take another shot at creating a new version of the 1993 film, Hocus Pocus for the Disney + streaming service.
The original film, penned by Neil Cuthbert and Mick Garris and directed by Kenny Ortega, tells the story of three witches, played by Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker who are accidentally brought back to life in current day Salem, Massachusetts. it became a huge cult hit based on its constant re-airings on the Disney and Freeform channels.
The Disney Channel had begun development on a TV movie version of the cult classic a few years ago that would have featured a new cast but it never got off the ground.
The new film hasn’t even reached the script stage but will be penned by TV writer Jen D’Angelo who is known for the shows Happy Together, LA To Vegas and Workaholics.
There is also no reports on whether or not any of the original cast will be reprising their roles and if this will be a true sequel to the original or a reboot to join the Live Action/CGI mix that is the new Lady and the Tramp which is slated for launch of the new streaming service.
