If you think the internet hysteria over a string of creepy clown sightings across America is being exaggerated, think again! The good folks over at AtlasObscura.com have released an interactive map that allows users to see the exact scope of the so-called “Clownpocalypse”. You may have heard about Gags the Clown in Green Bay, Wisconsin, or the case of Jason Martin who was arrested for “lurking” in a clown suit down in Kentucky, but there have been dozens more incidents you probably didn’t know about.
By floating your cursor over the spot of a creepy clown sighting, you instantly get details about the incident (you can peruse the map at your leisure, HERE). While it’s definitely interesting and informative, this interactive map is more likely to flame hysteria rather than cooling it.
Just this morning, Bloody-Disgusting.com reported on a clown sighting that may have resulted in a murder.
Whether it’s all fun and games or something altogether more sinister remains to be seen. Still, it’s important to note that the vast majority of these creepy clown sightings turned out to be nothing more than harmless pranksters, so keep a cool head. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take extreme caution around anyone wearing a clown costume in public.
