Japanese horror fans recently experienced a cross-over of epic proportions, the equivalent of Freddy vs. Jason in America: Sadako vs. Kayako pitted the techno-specter from the Ring franchise against the phantom mother-son duo from The Grudge (aka Ju-On) films. News came down today that Sadako vs. Kayako will be coming to the US via the streaming service Shudder.
No word on an exact release date, but Sadako vs. Kayako will see its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as part of the festival’s “Midnight Madness” block.
Official Synopsis: After viewing a legendary cursed videotape, Natsumi (Aimi Satsukawa) discovers she has only two days before she will be killed by the demonic entity known as Sadako. The only way to break the curse: pitting the demon Sadako against Kayako, an accursed spirit possessing a haunted house where everyone who enters disappears.
Sadako vs. Kayako is helmed by Koji Shiraishi (director of Carved: The Slit-Mouthed Woman, and Grotesque).
