I can’t imagine that the pitch room that came up with the idea for Syfy’s Sharknado thought they had anything more than a snarky one-off on their hands. Unbelievably, Sharknado has become one of the most successful horror franchises of the 21st Century through rising popularity and sheer volume of entries (not to mention a healthy proclivity towards self-deprecation). We’ve just gotten the official title, tagline, and extended synopsis for the series’ 5th installment!
Sharknado 5: Global Swarming will air in over 100 countries on August 6th under the tagline: “Make America Bait Again”!
Official Synopsis: In SHARKNADO 5: GLOBAL SWARMING, the mission gets personal for Fin Shepard (Ian Ziering) and his bionic wife, April (Tara Reid) when their young son gets trapped in a traveling ‘nado and transported all over the world. From London to Rio, Tokyo, Rome, Amsterdam and beyond, our globetrotting heroes will seek assistance from a highly-skilled squad of royals, scholars, and Olympians, enlisting famous faces from the news, entertainment, and sports in their most epic battle yet.
The made-for-TV-movie is directed by Anthony C. Ferrante and stars Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, Katie Price, and Masiela Lusha.
In addition to the information above, we now have an official list of cameos to watch for in Sharknado 5 (though were told to expect even more when the film actually airs). Have a look at let us know what you think in the Comments section! Whose participation surprises you most?
