The movement on the latest Friday the 13th film is enough to leave us all hopeful, but still too vague to begin any early celebrations. Just a few days back we dropped another confirmation (read all the details right here) that we wouldn’t be seeing a found footage Friday film. Today we’re learning that, although slow, the film is indeed moving forward.
According to Bloody Disgusting, who did some digging at the WonderCon (and beyond), the script for the 12th franchise installment (13th if you’re counting Freddy vs. Jason) is due in April and that there’s a tentative plan to begin filming at the end of summer.
That doesn’t necessarily mean we’re barreling forward on the project, as the script still has to get the green light from Paramount. But it’s good news and it does indicate that there’s a fair chance we’ll see the flick arrive on time for the proposed January 2017 release date.
If this one doesn’t gain more momentum soon we’ll probably see Paramount adjust the release date, but that’s not any kind of certainty at this point, and things haven’t gone completely stagnant on the production.
Keep your peepers open, we’ll keep you in the loop!
