Just a few years back it seemed that a big screen telling of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower would forever remain a “what if?” Well, that was a few years ago, and this is now, 2016, and the tune has changed dramatically.
Production seems to be moving at fine pace for the long anticipated cinematic adaptation of Stephen King’s sprawling epic, The Dark Tower. We’ve seen a few teasers here and there, but we’ve yet to see Matthew McConaughey all decked out as The Man in Black.
That changes today, as the first image of McConaughey on set, fully suited up as the menacing villain has hit the web – Instagram to be precise. You can get a look at that image below!
The Dark Tower stars Idris Elba (Prometheus) as Roland, Matthew McConaughey (Dazed and Confused) as the Man in Black. Supporting performers include Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road), and Katheryn Winnick (Killers).
Nikolaj Arcel directs. Arcel also co-writes with Anders Thomas Jensen, Jeff Pinkner and Akiva Goldsman.
If all goes as planned, we’ll see The Dark Tower on the big screen on February 17th, 2017.
Synopsis: Gunslinger Roland Deschain roams an Old West-like landscape in search of the dark tower, in the hopes that reaching it will preserve his dying world.
