With The Conjuring franchise, co-creator James Wan hoped to bring “respect” back to studio horror films. He’s currently a producer for The Nun, a Conjuring spinoff directed by Corin Hardy, and a featurette that hit the internet this weekend is giving us our first look behind-the-scenes. Not only is it an unprecedented window into one of 2018’s most anticipated genre offerings, it’s a must-watch explanation of how The Conjuring went from a one-off to an ever-expanding universe.

Official Synopsis: The latest installment in the Conjuring universe of shared horror films, Annabelle: Creation, recently arrived on home video, and along with it came a variety of special features. Buried in one of the supplemental features about the interconnected films was behind-the-scenes footage of the next chapter in the saga, The Nun, which begins around the 4:11 mark in the video above.

Here’s what we know about The Nun so far:
In The Nun, a priest is dispatched to investigate the mysterious death of a nun in Rome. The priest will be played by Alien: Covenant’s Demián Bichir and the demonic nun will once again by played by Bonnie Aarons. The film also stars Taissa Farmiga, younger sister of The Conjuring’s Vera Farmiga, as a fellow nun. Charlotte Hope is slated to play the character Sister Victoria, a nun who is plagued by a demonic presence.
The villain debuted in 2016’s The Conjuring 2, with the demonic presence being a figure that tormented Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga).
