Turning old classic tv shows seems to be all the rage in today’s climate, but some take it a step further and take their turn at the horror genre. We saw it earlier this year with the middlingly received BANANA SPLITS movie.
This time, the turn comes in the classic television program FANTASY ISLAND, which ran from January of 1978 to May of 1984 and would show how the enigmatic Mr. Roarke played by Ricardo Montalban in which the owner of the remote island would grant the wishes of his guests that would sometime take a turn and turn fantasy into nightmare.
The film is being released on Valentine’s Day of 2020 from Blumhouse and Sony Pictures and they have released the poster for the film, with a teaser trailer following around Monday.
While we wait for the trailer to drop, here is a look at the synopsis:
“The Enigmatic Mr. Roarke (played by Michael Peña) makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives.”
The film is being directed by Jeff Wadlow who also is behind the Blumhouse film TRUTH or DARE.
