We’ve been following the pre-production of Shane Black’s Predator for months, and we just got the most exciting bit of casting news since it was rumored that Benicio Del Toro was being cast in the lead role (update: He isn’t). We’re hearing reports that Keegan-Michael Key, half of the comedy duo Key & Peele, has joined the ensemble, which already includes Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, and Olivia Munn.
His role hasn’t been disclosed, although it was revealed yesterday that the story sees the popular stalker alien, first seen in the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger pic titled simply Predator, in an environment that audiences have not seen: the suburbs.
Ironically, Key isn’t the only comedian with horror inclinations. His partner Jordan Peele wrote and directed Get Out, hitting US Theaters in February; you can see the trailer and synopsis for that movie below.
Get Out Official Synopsis: Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined.
We’ll keep you posted on additional Predator news as details emerge. Stay tuned!
