Regular readers of Horror Freak News know we’re big fans of CryptTV, the digital platform for the internet’s best original horror content. The company is bucking trends and making history as their monthly views explode exponentially. Word is out that CryptTV is legit, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
Turns out, the company is getting serious attention for outside horror circles, having just been featured in a major article in The Wall Street Journal:
When [Eli] Roth and [Jack] Davis launched Crypt TV, they were making a big gamble on being able to scare people in a matter of seconds, as opposed to the two-hour movies with slow builds and jump cuts that the horror genre is typically known for. And they were wagering they could do all of this within the Facebook news feed and other social media.
The stats are nothing short of phenomenal:
The property’s videos have been averaging nearly 250,000 views each on Facebook alone, according to the analytics firm Tubular Labs. Crypt TV has even experimented with making full-on horror movies on Snapchat and Facebook Live, though the company is not posting to YouTube at this point.
If you stopped by CryptTV’s booth at last weekend’s LA Comic-Con (aka Stan Lee’s Comikaze) you may have met Giggles the Clown (pictured below), an original character who is equal parts titillating and terrifying. Those brave enough to approach her (despite her sharp & bloody teeth!) were invited (dared?) to kiss her on the cheek!
