Bloody Disgusting’s own Mr. Disgusting was the first to spot this exciting news late Friday, probably while the rest of us were rushing off from work for the weekend. But horror never sleeps! And after the rough week we’ve had here in America, this seems like the kind of positive item that can bring together Horror Freaks on both sides of the political divide: Chucky 7 is coming!
The word came straight from franchise co-creator and Don Mancini who tweeted out a picture of himself standing in from of the set of 2013’s Curse of Chucky (which he wrote and directed) along with the enthusiastic caption: “#Chucky IS FINALLY COMING HOME”. (Picture below.)
Rumors of Chucky 7 have swirled for the better part of a year, but this is the first solid confirmation we’ve gotten that the project is movie forward. Mancini also tagged Alex Vincent, the actor who played original Chucky nemesis, young Andy Barclay, in Child’s Play and Child’s Play 2 (with an after credits cameo in 2013’s Curse); this indicates the director is working towards integrating the mythologies of all the previous Chucky movies.
Now can’t we all agree this is some damn good news? No word on a release date (or an official name), but we’ll definitely keep you posted as details emerge.
In Curse of Chucky: Set twenty-five years after the first film, and some time after the fifth film, Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) mysteriously arrives in the mail of the home of paraplegic Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) and her mother Sarah (Chantal Quesnel).
