Perhaps second only to Shaun of the Dead, the Norwegian horror movie Dead Snow (2009) is a paradigm of zom-com. Not only is Dead Snow hysterical and gory, it’s extremely well produced, intelligent, and vastly satirical. Years before The Cabin in the Woods, Dead Snow had a self-aware, meta quality that put it in a league of its own.

Dead Snow 2: Red vs Dead was almost as good, but with expectations sky high and the horror landscape inundated with zombie movies in the mid-2010s, it came and went with little fanfare. Still, fans of the Dead Snow franchise were stoked when word came down a couple days ago that Dead Snow 3 is in the works. In an attempt to up the ante, this installment will feature the king Nazi himself: Adolf Hitler in zombie form!
“Just so you know, if you’re a fan of the Dead Snows, we’re hoping to make a third one in a few years,” says [franchise creator and director Tommy] Wirkola. “We’ve got to finish the trilogy, so I’m very excited about that. We’ve got to finish what we started, all of us! We have some ideas. I think it’s natural to maybe put some of the story in South America, where a lot of the Nazis fled, of course. We’ve got to top what we’ve done before, we have to bring back Hitler as well. Zombie-Hitler. That just feels natural.”
Obviously, the project is only in the brainstorming stages at this point, but it sounds like something most horror fans can get behind! We’ll keep our ears to the ground to bring you more Dead Snow 3 news as details emerge, so stay tuned! In the meantime, check out the trailers for Dead Snow and Dead Snow 2: Red vs Dead below. Enjoy!
