Around these parts we’re admitted fanatics of crazy, creepy and comedic horror shorts. There are some amazing films out there that fail to meet the feature length running time, but thrill just as feature films do. So we keep our eyes open for those little slices of greatness. Today, we discovered another one!
David Ury, who appears as Schizo-Head in Rob Zombie’s upcoming shocker 31, recently wrapped his own new short film, Augustine. It’s a tongue in cheek nod to hilariously off 80s flicks, especially some of those we’ve seen released from Full Moon.
Yes, that means you’re about to see some killer toys. Really, killer toys.
The film is loaded with outlandish dialogue and intentionally goofy maneuvers, and the cast – a talented and familiar lot – have an absolute blast with the project. If you know what’s good for you, you’re going to hit play on the attached video below. It’s a gem and then some!
The film stars Shelby Young (American Horror Story), Reid Ewing (Fright Night), Sarah Hester (Love or War), Tracy S. Lee (Twisted), Seth Cassell (Improvising), Tahmus Rounds (The Crazies) and of course, David Ury.
Ury co-writes with Rounds and co-directs with David Neptune.
The 8 minute horror short Augustine, which won best short at Calgary Horror Con and was nominated for best international short and best short screenplay at Australia’s Monster Fest and will soon show at the South Texas Underground Film Festival. The film was created by Tahmus Rounds, David Neptune and David Ury.
Synopsis: In Augustine, a group of kid’s visit the cabin of a recently deceased toy maker to find that his toys are still very much alive.
