Most tourist attractions strive to create a warm and welcoming environment in order to gain business through word of mouth. Those in charge of the glass skyway in the East Taihang Mountains of Handan city (north China’s Hebei Province), however, are taking a different approach. At the walkway’s peak altitude of 1,180 meters, the glass beneath visitors’ feet begins to crack and shatter.
What, that’s not your idea of fun?
Keep in mind, this isn’t a haunted attraction; while those who suffer a fear of heights would certainly find the location unnerving, no one taking a walk along the skyway is expecting to see his or her life flash before their eyes!
Check out this poor fellow, literally falling to his knees in terror!
Official Synopsis: A video of a tourist guide terrified by the sight of a bridge’s glass bottom cracking has gone viral recently in East Taihang Mountains, in Handan city, north China’s Hebei Province. The glass skywalk hangs 1,180 meters above a valley and stretches 266 meters in length. Just for fun, shattering glass is added as a special effect to give the already-terrifying experience extra zing. The management assured that workers check the glass panels daily to ensure the safety of visitors.
Of course, knowing that the man in the video is actually a tour guide is pretty hilarious; he knew the effect was coming and it still freaked him out!
