We really hate being the bearer of bad news, especially since it has to do with one of the most hotly anticipated horror movies of 2017. Friday the 13th, which we had been told was to begin filming this spring, shooting for an October release, has been yanked from Paramount’s release schedule.
[Mother, directed by Darren Aronosfky] will take the place of Friday the 13th which is moving off the Melrose Lot’s schedule. Par has bounced this one around the schedule, trying to get it to happen. In the wake of Rings not resonating this weekend at the B.O., particularly at the level of its previous two early ’00s pics, it seems like there is second thoughts here.
Sorry folks. It looks like Jason is going back into hiding—at least for now.
Here’s what we had previously reported:
Bloody Disgusting… exclusively confirm[ed] that casting is and has been underway on the next Friday the 13th, which is being produced by Platinum Dunes for Paramount Pictures with a target to release on Friday the 13th, October 2017. In addition, our friends at F13Franchise are reporting that pre-production is currently underway in hot spot Conyers, Georgia, which is 24 miles East of Atlanta.
