After a small tsunami of leaks surrounding the upcoming 8th season of American Horror Story, tentatively titled Radioactive, things have gone dark—which is a good thing! It suggests showrunner Ryan Murphy is playing his cards much closer to his chest than he did for American Horror Story: Cult. When word got out months in advance that the recent US Election would feature prominently in Season 7, fans came to the table with a slew of preconceived expectations.
So while we know precious little about American Horror Story Season 8 (that can actually be confirmed) we can announce some official casting news, via Deadline:
EXCLUSIVE: Billie Lourd is set to return to American Horror Story for the upcoming eighth installment of Ryan Murphy’s FX anthology series. In Season 8 of AHS, Lourd joins fellow AHS alums Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates, and new cast member Joan Collins, who will play Peters’ grandmother.
Following Season 7’s American Horror Story: Cult, which dealt with political themes, Season 8, set some 18 months in the future, will be “heightened,” Murphy revealed last month at an FYC event. “It’s not necessarily as real and grounded as the past season. We’re sort of getting back to Asylum and Coven. That’s the tone of it.”
American Horror Story: Radioactive is slated to begin filming this June. If history is any indicator, fans can look forward to the 8th Season premiere in October. Of course, we’ll keep our ears to the ground in order to bring you additional details as they emerge. Stay tuned!
