Bonnie Aarons, who played the shocking demon nun Valak in 2016’s The Conjuring 2 is bringing the unholy terror back for New Line’s spinoff The Nun, currently in pre-production under the direction of Corin Hardy. She joins previously announced cast members Taissa Farmiga and Demián Bichir on the film, which is targeting a July 13th, 2018 release date.
The Nun is the second title to spin off from the Conjuring universe, with Annabelle being the first. A sequel to the latter, Annabelle: Creation, is set to open Aug. 11. That movie could propel the franchise — which has grossed over $897 million so far with just three low-to-moderately budgeted films — past a billion dollars.
Besides The Conjuring 2, Aarons had had turns in Mulholland Drive, I Know Who Killed Me, and Drag Me to Hell. Check her out in the trailer below for last year’s Conjuring; we’ll bring you additional updates on The Nun as details emerge. Stay tuned!
